WARRINGTON band Man and the Echo are working on their debut album after performing at Glastonbury.

The four-piece played on Billy Bragg’s Leftfield Stage at the celebrated festival in June where Coldplay paid tribute to Viola Beach by covering Boys That Sing.

It has been a good year for Man and the Echo with support from John Kennedy on Radio X who champions new, emerging and under-the-radar musicians on his X-Posure show.

The band, whose music is described as oddball pop with a touch of socialist ideals, have also had airplay on Radio 2, Radio 4, 6 Music and Absolute Radio.

Their new single, the poetic Distance Runner, has been produced by Neil Comber, who has worked with Django Django and MIA.

It was inspired by the book The Edgelands by Paul Farley and Michael Symmons-Roberts.

You can hear Distance Runner at soundcloud.com/manandtheecho/distance-runner/s-PDOvh and next up for the band is a performance at Reading and Leeds Festivals during the August bank holiday.
