POLICE bosses at Cheshire Constabulary will not appeal the decision to keep drinking spot Voodoo open.

The bar on Academy Street was given permission to stay open by the town’s licensing committee in February as long as its owners adhere to conditions set out under the licence.

Following the outcome of the meeting, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said the force was considering its position regarding Voodoo.

But it has since been confirmed that they will not be appealing the decision.

Partnership inspector Richard Spedding said: "While the police did not achieve all the sanctions that they recommended they welcome the recognition of how seriously the committee viewed the issues that were raised and as a result they imposed significant restrictions on the operator including a reduction of operating hours.

"With this in mind Cheshire Police do not feel it necessary to appeal this decision."

It has already been confirmed that Cheshire Police will appeal the licensing review of Shenanigans on Bridge Street as police bosses do not believe conditions go far enough.

The case is expected to be heard at Warrington Magistrates Court later this year.
