TWO new mental health leaflets have been published aimed at the town's Polish community to raise awareness of services available for help or support.
The work stems from a targeted health needs assessment from the council's public health team to provide a better understanding of the local Eastern European community’s health and wellbeing needs.
One of the report’s recommendations was translating mental health promotion messages into key Eastern European languages and making them more visible in places accessed by people from Eastern European countries.
The leaflets, which focus on the ‘Five ways to wellbeing’ covering 'easy, everyday actions' that can increase wellbeing and details of how to get help if someone is struggling, feeling suicidal or is unable to cope, are now being distributed to key areas in the town.
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, executive board member for public health and wellbeing, said: “Residents’ health and wellbeing are a key priority for us and it’s important that every person in Warrington has the right to access the same services as everybody else."
