THE mayor has already attended more than 50 engagements since coming into office as he adjusts to the sudden transition from the deputy role.

Last year Cllr Geoff Settle (LAB – Poulton North) attended 60 engagements in total but with the help of mayoress Jean and Teddy George, the mayoral correspondent, the new position is proving to be a telling experience.

But due to his hectic schedule, Cllr Settle missed being a TT marshal for the first time in seven years.

"There was very sad news at the start of the TT fortnight, with the death of Charlie Hughes," he said.

"He was a former motorcycle racer from the Warrington area who lost his life in a road traffic collision on the Isle of Man mountain course."

But some of the highlights so far for Cllr Settle, Jean and Teddy George have been a flight with Cllr Paul Kennedy (CON – Hatton, Stretton and Walton) over the Town Hall, the Queen's Garden Party and attending the 65th celebration of higher education at the University of Chester's Padgate campus.

The trio also enjoyed their time at the Tabley Fabfest with the Girlguides of Cheshire and joined in the fun and games on offer.

In one of the activities each of them had to stuff balloons inside tights before placing them on their head 'like a hat' to gain a sticker for their game card.

At the end of the day Teddy George, made by the Burtonwood Sewing Group, tucked into his scone before having a snooze in the mayor's car on the way home.

An exclusive Facebook page, named Hashtag Teddy George, has been set up to allow residents to keep track of his work and #TeddyGeorge is being used on Twitter.

The Facebook page has already received 87 'likes'.
