FUNNYMAN Jason Manford has vowed to give up social media for a month to raise cash for a charity that provides holidays and activities for terminally ill and disabled children.

The stand-up star has so far raised nearly £5,000 for the The Children's Adventure Farm Trust based in Millington, near Lymm, with his 'Facebook fast' which includes posting, reading and even checking all social media from Monday to September 7.

The Ordinary Lies star, who filmed a number of scenes in Warrington last year for the TV drama, said: "I've chosen The Children Adventure Farm Trust as it's a charity close to my heart and my incentive is this; If I fail in this endeavour I will write a cheque for the same amount of money as you've raised, so if I do fail, you will get your money back and I will pay through the nose!"

Helen Crowther from the cause thanked the comedian for his generous gesture.

She added: "Wow Jason, this is very brave and very generous.

"On behalf of everyone at CAFT, especially the amazing kids we support, thank you.

"Dig deep everyone, you'll be doing a good thing I promise you."
