A WOMAN has been fined hundreds of pounds for dropping a bottle of Fruit Shoot on the ground.

Lisa Sullivan was taken to court and fined £220 after a Warrington Borough Council enforcement officer spotted her dropping the bottle 10 feet away from a bin in Harrison Square in Dallam while she was out with her children in September.

When challenged about the littering, the officer said Sullivan, 25, didn’t take the offence seriously.

The Dallam resident didn’t appear at Warrington Magistrates Court and was fined in her absence.

Cllr Judith Guthrie said: “People need to be aware that if they litter then action will be taken.

“It is about having respect for our environment and where we live – cleaning up litter costs the tax payer thousands of pounds every year.

“In Warrington you are never far from a bin, so use them.”
