THREE intrepid men from Croft will walk 66 miles around the Isle of Wight to raise money for an incubator for neonatal babies.

Andrew Hiley, 57, Roger Lamming, 68, and Andy Beevers, 49, are hoping to raise £4,000 for the Alice Hiley Memorial Trust in memory of Andrew's daughter and Roger's granddaughter, Alice.

The group have been named ‘The Croft Island Invaders’ in honour of this gruelling challenge and it should take between 24 and 30 hours to complete the trek, which includes walking through the night.

Roger said: “We asked a couple of friends about navigating the walk, they said, ‘Keep the sea on your left, keep going and you’ll be back where you started in around 30 hours.’

“Now that’s sorted, all we have to worry about is completing the 66 miles!”

The incubator they are fundraising for costs £16,000 and will be donated by the Alice Hiley Memorial Trust to Warrington Hospital neonatal unit.

Andrew said: “We’re aiming to raise £4,000 to complete our fundraising drive to purchase an incubator for the Neonatal unit that serves the North West area.”

The Trust was established in memory of Alice Hiley to help neonatal babies and to raise awareness of congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
