ONE lucky fan at the Challenge Cup final will show their support for Warrington Wolves from head to toe thanks to a dazzling pair of unique primrose and blue stilettos.

The shoes, which have a four-inch heel, were dreamt up by lifelong Wolves fan Ric Neill.

He ordered the stilettos from Irish airbrush artist Pippen McGrath and will auction them to raise money for St Rocco’s Hospice.

The 57-year-old said: “I’ve been a fan since I was a kid and my brother took me to my first game at Wembley when we played Featherstone in 1974 and I was 15.

“I went to Woolston High School so that was a very big rugby school.”

Ric and his fiancé Lyn Tryner run Lyn’s Curtain Corner and Fabric Outlet in Latchford and both of them are looking forward to travelling to Wembley on August 27.

He said: “We are absolutely hoping somebody will wear the shoes to the final and we’re hoping to get one of the cheerleaders to put them on – I think they’ve got better legs than I have.”

Lyn has been a Wolves fan since she was 12 years old and used her sewing skills to create the huge 20 by 30 foot Barmy Army flag that supporters have taken to games all over Europe.

The flag has since been donated to the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation after health and safety rules led to it being banned from the stands.

Lyn also created the flags the cheerleaders carry onto the pitch and said: “I’m really proud when I see them at the ground. I get a lot of enjoyment from making them.”

The 56-year-old, who grew up in Bruche, said she has been kept busy making Wolves curtains and bedding for fans ahead of the Challenge Cup Final.

Lyn and her family will be joined at Wembley by her mum, who is flying in from Spain especially to watch the match.

Bidding for the shoes will end on August 24.
