A LABOUR parish councillor has been suspended from the party.

Despite his suspension, Josh Booth, 19, is confident of 'having everything sorted out as soon as possible'.

Labour North West has refused to confirm details surrounding the decision.

But the Warrington Guardian understands the council's safeguarding team has investigated the Poulton with Fearnhead parish councillor – although the authority has not been able to provide further details.

A council spokesman said: "We would be unable to comment on any individuals’ safeguarding issues."

Despite the suspension, Mr Booth is eyeing a quick return.

He said: "I look forward to having everything sorted out as soon as possible so I can return to challenging the Tories and making the case for a radical, progressive Labour government."

Currently, he is still a Labour Poulton with Fearnhead parish councillor but cannot attend the party's branch meetings.
