A CHARITY campaign in memory of Brianna Ghey has raised more than £6,000 in less than two weeks.

Brianna was found with multiple stab wounds in Culcheth Linear Park in February.

The fundraiser - named Peace in Mind - has been a joint venture between Brianna's mum, Esther, and the Warrington Guardian.

Its goal is to raise money to help send school staff on training courses organised by the Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) - it is hoped this will help provide more support for schoolchildren across Warrington.

Since launching on September 7, the fundraising page for the campaign has raised more than £6,000.

Peace in Mind has received the backing of both of Warrington's MPs, the council, and Warrington Wolves, as well as the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation.

Celebrities, including Boy George, have also pledged their support for the campaign in memory of Brianna, who was a trans schoolgirl.

During the Warrington Wolves v. St Helens match at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday, September 15, Esther Ghey spoke in the stadium's corporate lounge about the campaign.

There was also an announcement within the stadium, showcasing the club's support for the Peace in Mind campaign.

Ahead of the match, Wire hooker Danny Walker - who is also the club's knife crime ambassador - wore a Peace in Mind t-shirt, which featured an image of Brianna, as well as the campaign's cherry blossom logo.

Wire mascot Wolfie also donned a campaign t-shirt before kick-off.

Speaking to the Warrington Guardian, James Howes, health and wellbeing manager at the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation, said: "The Warrington Wolves and Warrington Wolves Foundation are passionate about investing in mindfulness training within primary schools to help develop more compassionate young people.

"By supporting the Peace in Mind campaign in Warrington, we will be sowing the seeds of mindfulness early, to cultivate a generation equipped to embrace challenges, live more in the present moment, and develop tools to help relax when life becomes challenging.”
