A FAMILY-run Italian eatery is celebrating one year of business in Warrington Market.

La Cuccina opened at The Cookhouse in March last year, bringing a ‘taste of Italy’ to the Time Square site.

It is owned by Chapelford resident Cy Beautier, a passionate chef.

Cy is Parisian and trained to be a chef in Paris, but he worked in an Italian restaurant for 20 years.

Being a regular customer of the market, he decided to open his own stall there so he could share his passion for Italian food with Warrington.

Cy says La Cuccina’s first year in business has been really positive.

“We have created some wonderful connections with customers,” Cy told the Warrington Guardian.

“At the same time we have overcome some challenges where we have had to close a few times due to illness, but overall the first year of trading has been really positive.”

Cy also says how he feels ‘very lucky’ to be in a position to celebrate a year of trading with supportive customers, especially during the current economic climate. So as a thank you, he has offered a 25 per cent discount on all food.

Favourite dishes so far seem to be pollo al fungi, lasagne, and porchetta.

Besides the business itself, operating in Warrington Market has been great for La Cuccina.

Cy said how from day one, other traders made him feel ‘very welcome’ and that it is like ‘one big family’ in there.

“Most Sunday’s, we sit down with our neighbours Shawarma and we eat lunch together – either I cook or they treat us to some Middle Eastern cooking.”

La Cuccina also has great relationships with a number of other traders.

In terms of future plans, Cy is hoping to secure a pasta machine from Italy so he can make fresh pasta.
