THE town’s Conservatives have published their manifesto ahead of the Warrington Borough Council election this Thursday.
The party’s candidates for the Warrington Borough Council election have six main points in their manifesto plan for the town, as well as ‘local pledges where they wish to take the lead in additional Conservative initiatives’.
The main pledges include protecting Warrington’s green belt and 'urgently reviewing' the Local Plan – with the Conservatives saying the Labour-run council ‘wants to concrete over our lovely green spaces’, but a Conservative-run council ‘would build the homes we need on brownfield sites and ensure we have the right infrastructure to support local families too’.
The other main pledges are re-surfacing Warrington’s roads and pavements and ‘ensuring good transport infrastructure is a priority’, keeping council tax low, ‘tackling Labour’s £1.8 billion debt’, better council services to support the most vulnerable residents, and supporting the local economy to encourage investment in jobs, skills and training.
