Bobby's mum and dad, Cath and Wes, say they are overwhelmed by the response to their plea for help.
"Wes and I just can't believe it, it is such an amazing response," said Cath, aged 29, this morning.
"People keep coming up to me in the street with money," she added.
She and Wes returned from Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital yesterday evening to the news that hundreds of people had given to the fund for Bobby's cornea transplant.
Yesterday more than 1,000 people called our fundraising phoneline to donate money, and a wealth of cheques, totalling £734, arrived at the Warrington Guardian offices this morning.
There is more good news for Bobby's family, as specialists at Great Ormond Street discovered the back of his eyes are functioning properly and his retina is not detached, meaning his operation is more likely to be a success.
Call 09013 600 803 to donate. Calls cost £1, of which 75p goes to Bobby's fund.
