TV personality Stephen Mulhern was hosted by Newchurch Community Primary School this week.

The Catchphrase presenter visited the school for a promotional signing of his new children's book.

Max Magic, calling back to Mulhern's beginnings as a magician, was originally published in September 2022.

Newchurch Primary hosted the presenter as a result of winning a competition that was entered by one of the school's staff, Miss Igglesden.

The household name visited Newchurch Community Primary School on Tuesday, May 16, and was in such high demand that he stayed for even longer than planned, making sure that each child had a signed copy of his best-seller.

As per Google Books, the description for Max Magic reads: "Max Mullers loves doing magic tricks, his gran has taught him everything he knows.

"But his tricks aren't enough to keep Bottley the Bully off his back.

"Then a run-in with Bottley at his parents' market stall gets Max into even bigger trouble, now the notorious East End gangsters the Crayfish Twins are after him.

"If Max is going to get out of this one, he'll need a miracle.

"Fortunately for Max, with magic, anything is possible."

Taking to social media, Newchurch Community Primary School said: "The children were lucky enough to have Stephen Mulhern to come to school to perform a magic trick for them all as well as share his new book."

The school then added: ""I'll sign a few books," he said... We sold out.

"We are so thankful to Stephen who stayed at Newchurch for a little while longer to ensure all the children's books were signed.

"What a great day."
