ALFORD Hall A overcame the challenge of Tetleys B to win the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association Silcock Cup at the weekend.
Each team had five winners in a contest split by four chalks on the green, with the -10 handicap carried by Tetleys B from their victory in 2012 exaggerating the difference in performance.
John Garrett Jnr achieved the widest margin of victory, his 21-10 success coming against Maurice Bramhall for Alford Hall, who were making their first appearance in the final since 2010’s defeat to King and Queen A.
Damian Carroll’s 21-14 card and wins of 21-15 from John Garrett Snr and C Ure were also influential.
But the man-of-the-match award went to Tetleys’ Phil Lester after an epic tie against J Hallett that was eventually settled 21-20.
