DATEN came from 2-0 down to rescue a point in the JA Walton Challenge Cup group stage on Saturday.

Steve Rowlands scored on the brink of half time for Middlewich and their lead was doubled shortly after the restart by youngster James Smith, but a lack of discipline saw Middlewich then reduced to 10 men with 40 minutes remaining.

Dave Wright made it 2-1 in the 60th minute and the equaliser came from Marc Cash late in added time to earn Daten a point.

Grappenhall Sports claimed another victory at Stockton Lane as they beat West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves 3-1.

The home side got the breakthrough when Chris Sweeney’s shot from distance was spilled by the keeper into his own net and it was quickly followed up by another when an Adam Rostern corner was headed in by Josh Dagley.

West Didsbury replied after the break when a free kick five yards inside their own half found its way directly in to the back of the net, bouncing over the keeper’s head.

However, Grappenhall were not to be beaten as Dagley played a long diagonal ball that beat the visitors' back four and found Dan Sisson to fire past the keeper.

Moore United shared the points in a 0-0 draw with Cheadle Town Reserves.

The Reserve League Cup saw Daten share the points in a thrilling end-to-end battle with Garswood, which saw the sides finish two apiece.

Daten responded well to going down and a good build-up saw Ryan Jones' deflected shot sneak past keeper Ben Purdham into the bottom right corner.

Garswood went back in front via a penalty, until Daryl Brough unleashed a wonder strike from 35 yards.

Greenalls PSO beat Malpas 3-0, while Pilkington finished 4-0 winners over Grappenhall Sports and Eagle Sports beat Denton Town 4-3 in an end-to-end affair.

Moore United claimed a 2-0 home win over Cuddington, while Linotype CHN came back from being 2-0 down at half time to beat Rylands 5-3.
