SHAUN Reid is urging Warrington Town to prepare for each remaining game ‘like a cup final’ – the same way sides treat visiting Cantilever Park.

The Yellows are looking to make it eight successive wins on the road in all competitions when they visit Farsley AFC on Saturday, having won only three of seven at home since the turn of the year.

Reid feels sides lift their game when visiting Warrington, but insists his team must take that same mentality with 12 games to go.

Victory over Brighouse Town on Tuesday moved the Yellows to within seven points of the play-offs, while they hold a game in hand over fifth-placed Bamber Bridge.

“Teams set up against us at home knowing they’re going to be in for a game,” explained Reid.

“Every game at home has been like a cup final for the other team since the FA Cup run.

“That’s the price of success – we are always going to be there or thereabouts in the play-offs and, after the FA Cup, teams set up to make it very difficult for us.

“We have got to take that with us into every we play game now. Each is a one-off game.”

Town beat Farsley at Cantilever Park less than a month ago and Reid will be hoping for a better performance, despite the win, than the one he witnessed against Brighouse on Tuesday.

“It’s always a test going there and it’s a club with a good catchment area,” he added. “But a test we will be looking forward to.

“The lads didn’t play well on Tuesday, but they ground out a result and showed character. It was pleasing, the character that they showed, and you have got to accept that sometimes.

“It’s all about results now. As a manager you want to see your team play well, but it’s a results business at the sharp end of the season.

“We’ve got a decent squad but we will try and make a couple of additions to add to that going into the final run.”
