WIDNES Vikings welcome Warrington Wolves to the Select Security Stadium with both coaches talking up the clubs’ rivalry.

Vikings’ head coach Denis Betts says both players and fans know the importance of this ‘derby’, while Tony Smith expects supporters to turn out in their droves.

But Wolves’ record on the i-pitch will give the hosts confidence, with the boys in primrose and blue having only won once there since Vikings’ return to Super League.

Warrington won the final league game of the season there in 2012, a 52-14 success, but have since lost 38-22 in 2013 and 28-14 last year.

Vikings welcome back their captain and key man Kevin Brown from an injury, but they are without Chris Clarkson and Paddy Flynn.

Wolves will also be wary of hooker Lloyd White, declared fit, who is Vikings’ top try scorer so far.

They were beaten 36-8 at Salford Red Devils last time out, and face the unenviable task of flying to Perpignan to face Catalans Dragons in their other Easter game on Monday.

Widnes recorded one of only two wins this season the last time they ran out at home, beating Hull Kingston Rovers 20-16.

The hosts’ only other Super League victory in 2015 also came at the Select Security Stadium in a 58-16 mauling of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Vikings’ 19-man squad: Brown, Dean, Dudson, Galea, Gerrard, Hanbury, Heremaia, Hulme, Kavanagh, Leuluai, Manuokafoa, Marsh, Mellor, O’Carroll, Owens, Phelps, Tickle, White, Whitley.
