SUPER League leaders Leeds Rhino have lost just once this season – to Warrington Wolves.

Round 12 sees the sides facing each other for a second time this campaign, with Leeds topping the table by six points and 10 ahead of Friday’s visitors.

Brian McDermott’s side are the only team in Super League to boast a plus 100 points difference and they have scored over 100 points more than their nearest rivals.

That is complemented by one of the league’s best defences.

The Headingley Carnegie outfit have won all six games since that loss at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in March.

In contrast, Wolves’ only win since beating boss Tony Smith’s former side came in an 80-0 rout of Wakefield – losing five of their previous six.

Warrington’s 18-6 victory in Round Six on Friday 13 came courtesy of Kevin Penny, Stefan Ratchford and Ryan Atkins tries, with Tom Briscoe responding.

The hosts capitalised on some uncharacteristic mistakes in the Leeds defence that evening, including from Kevin Sinfield who has since announced he will be playing rugby union next season.

Scrum half Danny Maguire is Leeds’ top try scorer so far this season with seven, but the Rhinos have all been chipping in with Zak Hardaker, Ash Handley, Rob Burrow and Kallum Watkins all one behind.

Leeds’ defence has been crucial to their form this year and second row Stevie Ward tops the Super League tackle chart with 428.

The closest Wolves player is Ben Westwood with 336 tackles so far this season.
