WARRINGTON won by five wickets at Bredbury in Cheshire County League Division Two on Saturday.

With the match reduced to 35 overs per side on a wet wicket, the home side had no answer to the pace bowling of Nathan Green, 7 for 43, as he ripped through the top order well supported by Chai Gadipalli, 2 for 14, and Ashley Scholes, 1 for 11, had Bredbury bowled out in the 32 over for 102.

Adam Green, 17, and a match-winning stand of 39 for James Rudd, 34, and skipper Rich Heaney, 13, set up Tom Clutterbuck, 11, to hit the winning run.

WARRINGTON seconds were unable to skittle Oxton as the match ended in a draw in Division One.

A steady start from Tom Highham, 35, Joe Quinn, 24, and Sam Pennington, 25, set up Ian Sleigh, 87 not out, and James Sharrock, 33, to post a sixth wicket partnership of 92, enabling Warrington to declare after 47 overs on 245 for 5.

Oxton could never match Warrington’s run rate but held out for a draw on 178 for 7 with the wickets being shared between Howard Morris, 2 for 7, Paul Whelan, 2 for 11, and Ryan Swart, 2 for 43.

WARRINGTON thirds won by 20 runs against Macclesfield.

Put in to bat, Warrington reached a moderate total of 153 for 9 with Billy Gilbert, 35, Alistair Begg, 23, and Les Connolly, 20, making runs in the top order with Raj Soni, 31 not out, hitting out at the end

Macclesfield were making a steady approach to the Warrington total with the home bowlers striving for an early wicket it was only when Tom Corroboy, 7 for 13, entered the attack that the visiting batsmen were unable to read his slow bowling as they were bungled out for 133 to give the home side a 20-run victory.

THE fourths posted 213 for 8 in a draw with Ashley, 164 for 8.

Dom Hastings confirmed his early season form following last week’s 69 with the first century for a Warrington player with a fine 103 the late order of Vijay, 21, and Nathan Jeffery, 35 not out, adding 67 for the seventh wicket giving Warrington 213 for 8.

Good bowling from Mans Naseem, 2 for 22, and 13-year-old debutant Jack Street, 2 for 29, held the home side in check as they fell well short of the Warrington total as they closed the match 164 for 8.
