PAUL Asher did not have to wait long before catching fish during a visit to Sandiway’s small lake last week.

He ended the session with five tench, two of which were like peas in a pod at 6-8-0, two bream and as many low double carp.

He used chopped boilies on the hook, and PVA bags with 15kg of bait to get past the weed he spodded, and was into fish within quarter of an hour.

Carp started spawning on the small lake at Sandiway on Tuesday, prompting bailiffs to close pegs where there is obvious activity.

Weights were down in our Junior Woodshaw Reservoir match, but Megan Connell collected a first win of the series with a mixed net of bream and roach weighing 5-4-0 taken on pole and disco maggots.

A change of venue, from canal to the Mersey, for our disabled and over 60s match brought with it an end to Jimmy Byrne’s run of victories.

Derek Bibby took first place with 7-12-0.

For a second successive week, Ray Boden had a winning weight in our Saturday Series Mersey match.

He caught a mixed net of 5-10-0, made up of perch and roach on the pole and maggot.

Our Mersey Sunday Series saw Bob Clough well clear of the rest, netting 10-4-0 taken on quiver tip using maggot and worm.

The Woodshaw Junior Series match on Monday saw Dane Rawlinson fish pellet and paste on the pole to win with 8-10-0 of crucian and roach.

A reminder to members that they must use the official access points to our fisheries.

Fences have been broken down by people accessing Grey Mist Mere from the Household Waste Site end of the fishery, but the entrance is from the opposite end via Bridge Lane.

Bailiffs have been instructed to seize the membership card of offenders.
