HULL Kingston Rovers are looking to keep alive hopes of winning the Challenge Cup for the first time in more than three decades.

The Robins have not reached a Wembley final since 1986, when they lost to Castleford, and have not lifted the cup since 1980, when they beat cross-city rivals Hull FC 10-5.

In fact, the east Hull outfit have finished runners up in the competition five times, the first of those defeats coming against Warrington in 1905 at Headingley.

One player hoping to help Rovers reach Wembley is new recruit Dane Chisholm, despite the semi final set to be only his second game for the club.

Wolves will be wary of the Australian stand off, who has joined Chris Chester’s side on loan from NRL outfit Canterbury Bulldogs for the remainder of the season.

Chisholm, who has won four caps for France, was brought in after skipper Terry Campese was ruled out for the season, but fellow half back Albert Kelly will also be on Wolves’ radar after the 36-10 defeat of Warrington at the KC Lightstream Stadium in June.

One man in the Hull KR squad who knows what it feels like to lift the Challenge Cup is former Warrington player Tyrone McCarthy.

The loose forward was a winner in 2009 and crossed for a try in 2012.

Another who would love to get one over on Warrington is Shaun Lunt.

Lunt, who is on loan from Huddersfield Giants for the remainder of 2015, has played in two Cup finals for Huddersfield and Leeds Rhinos, missing out on both occasions to Warrington.

“I’ve lost twice against Warrington in both finals I’ve played," he said.

"My teammates would love to win it as well. Tyrone McCarthy was on the winning side in both of those finals for Warrington, so he knows what it takes to go all the way."
