EAGLE Sports picked up three points on their travels with a 3-1 victory at Styal FC to move them back up the Cheshire Football League Premier Division table.

The visitors, despite travel problems meaning that their warm up time was significantly reduced, started brightly and took the lead midway through the first half when Owen Ellis got onto the end of a Jack Rudge ball and kept his cool to finish well past the home keeper.

The advantage was doubled soon after as Jay Waldron did well to keep the ball in and delivered a great cross to the back post where it was met by Ged McAllister with his head to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

McAllister should have added a third before the whistle but the keeper saved well one on one but Eagle were firmly in control going into the dressing rooms at the break.

The second half went similar to the first in that Eagle were always in control of the game.

Lee Boardman's mazy run and pass resulted in Waldron adding a third for the visitors and killed the game for Styal.

The hosts did grab a late consolation, much to the annoyance of the visiting side, however, the performance and result were exactly what was required on a wet night in Manchester.

Eagle: Clark, R.Bishop, Robinson, C Hall, Coleman, Rudge, N Williams, Waldron, Ellis, McAllister, L Boardman. Subs: Nixon, Shakeshaft, Wearing, Joseph.

A late screamer from James Maher rescued a point for Eagle Sports Reserves following a poor performance against fellow Warrington side Grappenhall Sports Reserves.

The hosts started the game brightly and were unfortunate when a penalty claim for a foul on Trevor Pratt was turned down by the referee. However, Pratt did find the net minutes later, using his pace to get away from his marker and finish well into the bottom corner.

Taking the lead did not drive Eagle on, however, as their performance declined, allowing the visitors to come back into the game.

This resulted in an equaliser being scored just before half time, meaning the teams went in at half time with the score at 1-1.

The second half did not bring about improved performances as both sides failed to play at the expected levels. However, it was the visitors that took the lead when a 30 yard shot flew past Aaron Clark in the Eagle goal.

Chances came for both sides, with Nathan Gallagher going close for Eagle and the frame of the home goal being rattled before Maher smashed home the equaliser from 20 yards to share the spoils.

Eagle: Clark, Mosley, Wearing, Gibson, A.Moriarty, Muttock, Toon, Maher, Pratt, Stratulis, Gallagher Subs: Atkinson, Gatenby, Joseph, Martin, Dawson.

Also in midweek, Rylands were defeated 2-1 at home by Garswood United in the Premier Division, while Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds secured a 2-0 home success over champions Linotype Cheadle HN.

In League One, Daten fell 6-3 at home to Golborne Sports, while hosts Warrington Town Reserves drew 4-4 with AFC Macclesfield in League Two.
