WARRINGTON and District Football League round-up.

Haydock FC 1 Burtonwood Albion 4

BURTONWOOD inflicted a first defeat of the season on Haydock FC in the Warrington and District Football League Premier Division.

Albion were first off the mark on four minutes, with Josh Dixon finishing well.

Haydock levelled two minutes later, after poor marking by the visitors.

After that there was no looking back for Burtonwood.

Dominic Reid scored immediately from the kick off.

A brilliant penalty save by Haydock’s goalkeeper held Burtonwood back until just before half time when Craig Spurling slotted home to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage.

Burtonwood dominated proceedings in the second half and scored again on 76 minutes through a great strike from Reid.

Grange Sports 5 Rainhill Town 3rd 1

GRANGE Sports got back into the Division One promotion mix with a superb win over a very good Rainhill Town side, who showed why they were previously unbeaten over the season.

Rainhill began the game on fire and put Grange under extreme pressure.

Grange responded with an astonishing 20-minute spell in which they scored twice, hit the bar and also had a goal disallowed.

Rainhill shrugged this off and even after a serious injury to their keeper, which caused a long delay, they forced a penalty which was saved by Grange netminder Mitch Moores.

Rainhill threw everything at Grange at the start of the second half but the home side scored twice to make it 4-0.

Rainhill finally got the goal they deserved but once again Grange broke and scored again.

Two late dismissals further marred Rainhill’s day but great game between two excellent teams.

Goal scorers for Grange were Scott Robinson, three, and Ryan Wilde, two.

Winwick 2 Railway Rangers 1

TOBIAS Robinson scored a fantastic overhead kick to put Winwick ahead after 25 minutes and shortly after Rob Quillian doubled the lead in Saturday's Division Two encounter.

Railway pulled one goal back before half time and despite chances at both ends Winwick held on for three points that moved them to third in the table.

Windmill 1 Lomax 6

LOMAX took an early lead through Craig Hoyland in a competitive Division Four match.

Windmill piled pressure on the Lomax goal and were unlucky not to score as a number of efforts went narrowly wide.

Lomax hit back with two counter attacking goals by Matty Mairs and Adam Bugan to lead 3-0 at half time.

The second half was much the same with Windmill throwing everything at Lomax to get back in the game.

Lomax in turn replied with further goals from Adam Deakin, two, and a fine free kick from Hoyland.

Eagle JFC 1 Burtonwood Albion Reserves 0

EAGLE welcomed Scotty Hamilton and Bradley Williams back to the side and both delivered massive performances.

Excellent Matty Colley scored the winner for a dominant Eagle team, whose man of the match was Nathan Quayle.
