WOLVES boss Tony Smith said 'huge plays' from Ben Currie got him more excited than normal at Headingley on Thursday.

The second row, Warrington's top try scorer last season, filled in for Ryan Atkins at centre during the 12-10 win at champions Leeds Rhinos.

He was involved in several eye catching plays, a 50-metre run midway through the second half when the Wolves were under extreme and pressue and the pass which led to Kevin Penny's game winning try.

But his defensive work in the last 10 minutes, first to run down Rob Burrow when he seemed certain to score and then to bundle Kallum Watkins into touch were crucial according to Smith

"Ben Currie came up with huge plays. Not many people would run down Burrow and round him up. That was a game saving play," he said.

"I don't often get excited on the sidelines but I thought picking up Watkins was a huge play.

"He is a big man and that was huge."
