WARRINGTON Town kept up their title charge with a 1-0 win against promotion hopefuls Ossett Albion.

The Yellows profited from an own goal to stay top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League by eights points, while title rivals Northwich Vics hammered Droylsden 8-2.

Danny Ventre's corner was bundled into his own net by the Albion keeper in the first half as 396 people turned out at Cantilever Park to see how Town got on in Shaun Reid's absence.

As it was, new management duo Stuart Mellish and Lee Smith will have been delighted to get off the mark with three points.

Former Everton prospect Gerard Kinsella made an appearance after being re-signed this week but the Town chiefs resisted too many changes to a table-topping match day squad that included new signing Michael Lea on the bench.
