IT’S three out of three in the Lancashire Cup for Warrington RUFC’s in-form under 15s side.

After a closely-fought first half, a second-half purple patch allowed the home side to pull away and eventually wrap up a 42-26 victory in what was their first ever meeting with Orrell at this age group.

Warrington started the sharper, with George Welsh latching onto a fine cross-field kick from Freddie Hartill to open the scoring inside the first minute before some slick handling allowed Sam Laird to touch down and extend the lead to 12-0.

Orrell got themselves on the board with their first try, but the hosts’ response was immediate as another pin-point kick created a try from Ollie Orgill.

The visitors again kept themselves in touch as their second try reduced the gap to five points at the break, but a more accurate and clinical showing saw Warrington score three tries in 15 minutes after the interval to pull away.

Mackenzie Morris, Paddy Shepherd and Fraser Savage all touched down, with Hartill converting all three tries to take the score to 38-12 and put the game out of Orrell’s reach.

The visitors refused to lie down, however, and grabbed themselves two more tries to bring respectability to the scoreline, but Warrington had the last word as Shepherd crossed for his second try.
