NO National League North side is currently in better form than Warrington Town.

And tonight, they will aim to ensure their impressive run of results survives a long midweek away trip.

Yellows travel to Spennymoor Town tonight sitting top of the division’s form table having taken 14 points from their past six unbeaten matches.

During that run, they have netted 15 goals and conceded just four, two of which have been penalties.

Indeed, their only defeat in nine matches since the turn of the year came at the hands of runaway leaders Tamworth and it is that kind of form that has seen them leave any potential relegation battle far behind and has supporters dreaming of a play-off place.

Saturday’s 3-0 victory at Curzon Ashton left Mark Beesley’s side just two points shy of a top-seven spot, but that kicked off a run of seven matches in 28 days that is sure to test their small squad to its limit.

Forward returns to boost Warrington Town

Beesley may opt to freshen his side up for tonight’s trip to County Durham, with defenders Dec Walker and Evan Gumbs both pushing for starts.

His numbers will be boosted by the return of forward Matt Grivosti, who is available again after missing Saturday’s game through suspension following his sending-off against Boston United earlier this month.

Supporters who travelled to Curzon on Saturday will have noticed the welcome sight of skipper Josh Amis taking part in the team’s pre-match warm-up as he works his way back from the ankle injury that has seen him miss the past five games.

However, it is thought tonight may come too soon for the big striker, with Saturday’s home game against Brackley Town believed to be a more realistic target for him.

Another classic between Moors and Yellows?

Tonight’s hosts are aiming to keep themselves clear of the relegation zone after an alarming dip in form either side of the new year.

Having been as high as second in mid-October, the shock resignation of manager Jamie Chandler appeared to spark a collapse and a run of two wins in 17 league games sent them sliding down the table.

Former Marske United boss Graeme Lee took over in January and things have picked up in recent weeks, with Moors having won two of their last three games.

The two sides last met back in September and produced a classic at Cantilever Park, with Dylan Mottley-Henry scoring a 95th-minute equaliser to rescue a 3-3 draw for Yellows, who had trailed 2-0 and 3-1.
