LUKE Littler is in relaxed mood as the PDC Premier League Darts moves to Rotterdam – and why wouldn’t he be?

“The Nuke” heads to Holland sitting atop the table with five nights remaining, with his spot in the play-offs looking seemingly secure.

The Warringtonian has only failed to reach the semi-finals twice in the 11 nights thus far and has made the final in each of the past three, winning in Belfast and Manchester before losing to Michael Van Gerwen in Birmingham last week.

A continued steady accumulation of points will mean his spot at Finals Night at London’s O2 Arena next month will soon be rubber-stamped – something he says would be “a massive achievement.”

Tonight, the former Padgate Academy pupil opens the show against Michael Smith, who needs to start winning in order to keep his own play-off hopes alive but has won three of his four Premier League meetings with Littler.

"The bigger the arena, the better I play, so I'm really looking forward to it," insisted 17-year-old Littler.

"The first five or six weeks were tough, but I think I've really settled into the tournament now.

"Coming into the Premier League, I thought if I made the O2 for Finals Night that would be a massive achievement so to be top of the league after 11 nights is just a bonus.

"Michael won't put too much pressure on himself but he knows he needs to win to keep up with the top four, and I just want to keep going."

The winner of the Littler-Smith tie will face either Rob Cross or Gerwyn Price in the semi finals.
