WOOLSTON Rovers Amateur Rugby League Club have appointed a new president.
Warren Whalley succeeds his great friend and right-hand man of many years Harry Crank, who died last June.
Whalley, who was the club senior vice president prior to his new appointment, joined the club in 1969 as a player, transferring from Cadishead.
He has held numerous roles at the club over the past 50-plus years, including treasurer, secretary and facilities co-ordinator.
At the club senior section's annual meeting, Whalley was also appointed as interim chairman for the next three months until a permanent appointment is made.
Harry’s youngest daughter Susan Crank and eldest granddaughter Amy Jones were in attendance and delighted with the appointment.
