LAST Saturday, the whole of the south of Warrington became gridlocked.

I could barely get anywhere as all roads seemed to be jammed.

What could be going on? Natural disaster? A bad accident maybe?

No. As I finally got to near The Stag after an hour of going nowhere, I realised the swing bridge was closed again.

Barriers down, although it seemed the bridge was in position.

Chester Road and London Road, to name but two, had been turned into car parks.

This happens on such a regular basis but yet nothing changes, and nothing is improved.

Peel clearly couldn’t care less.

It is happy making millions by sending ships up and down the Manchester Ship Canal, but it does nothing for the people of Warrington whose lives are affected by its neglect and the way its bridges are falling apart.

When will Peel listen and do something, because these temporary fixes merely move the problem down the road until the next one.

I know for certain within the next two months I will be sat in queues again.

It is totally unacceptable and damaging to our town.

But I am not sure anything will ever change. Other than Peel’s profits for its shareholders.
